They may need potting on, planting into larger pots, if you haven't already. I'd say plant them out but given the recent forecast and risk of frosts in the UK I'd be wary.
they are in the ground and others are in large pot so not sure what i have done wrong. also the garden is south facing so gets full sun most of the day
Do you have a pic? They may well have been grown in protected conditions and haven't acclimatised, but sweet peas are quite hardy. Have they been potted on before planting out, or were they very small? These are all factors. Full sun can also be too much for small plants.
Small plants need a little bit of shelter, but I don't protect sweet peas, other than from wind and rain - they're far tougher than people realise. We have regular frosts at this time of year - minus 1 last night - and even small plants are fine.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
