Help! There must be something for this spot ....

Nothing would grow in the ground in this NE-facing, sheltered corner so we have replaced the planting with this water feature. There is a pyracantha on the fence to the left and clematis on the white wall. I am very pleased with the result but would love to add some foliage (or colour?) somehow! Obviously, something that doesn't drop leaves would be most suitable.I could fit a 10 inch pot behind the base and wondered whether an ornamental grass would be a possibility? Perhaps a fern or spider plant to hang down if there is such a thing as a hanging pot that would fit in the corner and hide the top of the wooden post? I'm sure the water feature will be covered for the Winter and am quite prepared to plant annuals or something that I can overwinter in a cold frame. All ideas gratefully received!

I think the water feature (which is lovely) would stand out better if the fence behind was painted a paler colour. I doubt whether it would take white paint but maybe a pale blue or green might suit. Failing that, how about a tall mirror propped up behind to reflect the water. I'm not sure a plant would look right somehow.
