What's this growing in my sage?

I planted  out a sage cutting a while ago. I've just notice this growing in it. The leaves are tough and leathery. No smell

Did you grow potatoes in that area last year?

It was a cutting in a tiny pot. I'd have noticed a potato! I agree it looks spudlike but the leaves are very tough. I suppose I could've mistaken a small potato for a pebble in the mulch.

But if you grew potatoes last year, or put your own home made compost on the ground, the potato could have been in there for a while.
You only need a bit of peel to grow a plant.
