Hosta Appreciation Corner

DovefromaboveDovefromabove Posts: 86,978
We had a thread about hostas once before but it was sabotaged and had to be locked, so I will say from the outset that this thread is about hosta appreciation.

Whilst I acknowledge that there are some folk who believe they should not be grown because of a possible risk to rabbits, this is not the thread for that discussion.

If anyone wants to alert gardeners to a possible danger please start your own thread with an appropriate title 😊

So now that has been said, with no further ado let me introduce you to the star of our garden at the moment ...
Hosta ‘June Fever’ ...

Isn’t it gorgeous 😍

What’s your favourite hosta today ... and will a different one be your favourite tomorrow?

    That's fab, @Dovefromabove!   :)

I gave up with hostas in our former garden in the wet, slug-ridden Pennines, but might be tempted to give them a go again here...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I have 3 Patriot hosta in my front garden, surrounded by stone chipping. They are about 6/8 ins tall a the moment. But they don't die gracefully.

Going to enjoy this. I'm a real fan of Hostas but have never really given them a go in the garden. A container display might be just the thing for me, shall follow and gain inspiration.

I was converted last year, bought some for various shady woodlandy bits of my garden, I never tried before because we had gone to gardens National Trust and the like, they just seemed to be a mass of holes shreddied, and thought they were slug food.
