The joke's on us.

I laughed but what a swizz.

We went to the garden centre today and my hubby really likes the strelitzia. The large ones were about 90 euro, not paying that. Next to them were some small ones, so we bought that to grow on. Already had a flower.

Later on I took the label off it to read the requirements. Shock!! The flippin' flower is plastic!

It was then that I remember a relative having one and they take years to flower and have to get big before they do.

Hubby still thinks it's real.

Oh for heaven’s sake. Can’t you take it back and shove it up their ....?

Yes they stuck a plastic flower on. I didn't have my specs on. Must say it looks authentic to the eye.

I would like to take it back but we took a risk going that far in the first place with regard to the Covid rules. Knowing my luck if we took it back we would get stopped and get a 250 euro fine.

It seems to be an increasing trend to sell live cacti with plastic flowers glued on as well.
Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people

@wild edges, last year I bought two live cacti with beautiful flowers. Flowers was plastic and glued on the cacti. Fortunately they wasn't expensive.

Well now its 'challenge accepted' to grow it on and get it flowering. I'll report back in 3-5 years.  :s
