Can anyone help - don't know what this clump forming perennial is, in flower early May?

Aka Dame's Violet or Sweet Rocket.  Sweetly scented in the evening.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Thank you, but definitely not. Only about 12" to 18" tall - straight erect stems. But thanks for suggestion.

A view of the vertical plant with foliage, allowing us to see the growth habit would be more likely to get a correct ID.

Height achieved by Hesperis matronalis depends a lot upon growing conditions.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Thanks. Will take better photo tomorrow
