Cistus Rock rose Help

Hello can you help me with how to save this plant please. Obs I need to plant it first. I’m ashamed to say I bought it last year and have neglected it as hadn’t got round to planting it! Should I just get it in the ground with lots of fresh compost, wait and see if it flowers a little and then can I prune it? And how much can I prune please?

  • i think it would be happier in the ground. Just give a light prune after it has flowered.

If any of the branches are completely dead (dry and brittle, no moist green underneath if you scratch off a bit of bark) then you might as well prune those off down to where it's alive.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
