Problems with Hozelock Aquastop connector

Hi
I have a couple of different spray guns to attach to my garden hose.
One is a Draper and the other is a Crenova.
I am having difficulty removing them both from the Aquastop connector.
The connector is not allowing water through when the Crenova spray gun is attached.
I have checked the Crenova gun which will allow water through it.
I thought the Hozelock connectors were universal.
Anyone else have similar problems and a resolution?
Thanks
Richard

I find hozelock connectors only really fit hozelock spray guns properly. Anything else, they tend to have a dribble.

They're supposed to be universal but being pretty cheap things, the manufacturing  tolerances are probably quite loose (at the other end of the spectrum they tend to drip and leak). Make sure that the gun is pushed in fully.  Or try a different connector on the hose. Failing that, change the Aquastop connector for one that doesn't stop the water which will solve one of the problems.

Aquastop only allows water to flow in one direction.  With the gun off does water flow through the connector?

I had constant trouble with hozelock. Even their own connectors leaked. Binned the lot and got Gardena hose and fittings. It all came in a set. No leaks at all

  • Thanks for all your replies folks.

KT53 the water doesn't come out of the hose after I have, with a struggle, detached either of my spray guns from the aqua stop attachment.

I'm thinking of buying a brass aqua stop connector, either Karcher or Draper maybe my spray guns will attach and detach better with it.

I thought it was just intended to stop water backflow through the tap, but reading the blurb on the device, it is intended to allow the spray to be removed.  I can only assume it will only work with other Hozelock fittings.

Now I think about it, I had problems with my Karcher with that type of connector, although if I'm honest I didn't realise it was an Aquastop until I removed it.  I replaced it with a standard connector and everything was fine.

I've been using these for a few years now:
A bit expensive and I don't really need any more spray attachments but the build quality is excellent, with a very positive click action - you need to pull back the sliding part to detach.  One of the 2 hose connectors (the one used to attach things) has an 'aqua-stop' valve so water flow ceases when the attachment is removed.  You also get a brass tap adapter.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
