Hi , planted a new Salix tree last year in my garden seem to grow fine then but no sign of life this year yet . I am thinking it must have died , have no clue I am new to gardening . Please advise thanks

Sadly it does look very dead.
Willows love water maybe it dried out.
Maybe your stake pierced the main root.

Maybe a blessing as they are not normally trees you plant in small gardens, the roots tend to find water/sewage pipes and can cause problems.

Oh thanks for the info much appreciated! Do you recommend any other small trees that would suit a central location of a small garden ?
