Provide Support to Branches

Hi,

I'm sure you'll be able to tell by my question that I'm very new to the world of gardening!

As you can see from the pictures, some branches have become loose from this tree:

What's the best thing to do?  Wrap a wire band around the tree to contain the branches?  I think I've seen this done on trees before.

I'm just a bit bothered that they may become damaged in strong winds.

Any advice would be great!

Hi @werdnarolyat - yes you can 'tie' them in to the main shrub, but be very careful with wire as it can cut into other stems/branches and cause a problem. If you have some string it would be better, although you may have to replace that more often.
The best tie is a pair of old tights, or one leg of a pair. They'll be hidden once greenery grows round it.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • Thanks @Fairygirl. I'll give that a go!

I'm glad I'm not the only person whose outworn hosiery ends up in the garden!

It's brilliant for tree ties too  :)
I never wear them though - I had to use a pair belonging to one of my girls last time I needed them  ;)
