What on earth is this?

It's coming up in my mums garden and she insists it is alive and growing, although I initially thought it was an old sock 😂

    It could be something like an ox-tongue fungi - although that usually grows on wood. Yours does look distinctly woolly, though - with maybe a leaf underneath it.

    Whatever it is, someone’s made a good job of threading cotton round and round to hold the fluffy stuff on it. 
    I  think your mum’s  having you on and wants to cheer you up during lockdown.

    Does your mum have a risqué sense of humour? 😉

    It does look like it has thread around it. It's like the thumb of a glove.
    I would imagine that if she touched it, she would know if it's vegatable or not fom its texture.
