Cobaea Scandens

For two successive years, I have planted these seeds in accordance with the instructions in good quality seed compost.  None of the seeds have germinated.  The packet says 'Easy Grow Half Hardy Annual' and Monty Don in one of his programmes mentioned that these plants were easy to grow!!!!   Any recommendation please.

I've grown a few for the first time this year after seeing them in the vegetable garden at Rosemoor last year. They took a few weeks to germinate and one of the ones I planted did rot but all the others are growing nicely. Did you cover them to keep the moisture at high levels? As they took about three weeks to germinate I'd think drying out must be the main reason they'd fail to.

I’ve tried twice and managed to get them to germinate but growth was slow and never got as far as any flowers. They were planted out in a sunny spot both times but I wonder if they need a long season? I haven’t a heated propagator so set them off probably around early April in the greenhouse.
