Tricky at this stage, but if I had to put money on it, I'd go for aubergine. The seed leaves on peppers are usually narrower and more pointed at the tip.

Thanks @BobTheGardener. I've never had any success with aubergine germination before; so am happy. Waiting for the true leaves to form so that I can pot up as they are getting leggy. Do I plant them deep like tomatoes? Will they form roots from the buried part of the stem?

Yes, you can bury them up to the lowest pair of leaves when you separate and pot them up. Go for small pots first then gradually put into larger pots as the roots reach the sides and bottom as doing this really helps to bring them along quickly. Bear in mind both of these plants need a long season and in the UK that usually means growing them under glass.
