Why are the leaves going brown?

Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong with this patio hydrangea I have put it in a tub with soil and compost last week and now the leaves are going brown? Am I over or under watering??
Thanks

Do you have it full sun, and has it been windy where you are? They like some shade, and wind can dry and burn young new leaves too.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    Did you buy it recently?
They're often forced into flower early and sold at this time of year, but because they've been cossetted, they get a bit of a shock when put into the real world, especially if you're in an area which has had some frosts.
However, @JennyJ's reply is right - they're common reasons for the problem you have.
They don't make very good pot specimens long term though, so you need to consider that for the future.  :)

Yes - some shade is preferable for them, especially in pots. They can dehydrate very quickly  :)
