Forward planning

My frontage bed is a south facing slope of acid clay which is in a bit of a flowering hiatus at the moment following the daffs and tulips until the late spring / early summer flowers kick in.
I'd be interested in any suggestions for yellow flowers about 0.50m high flowering during April / early May to fill this dead spot for next year.

Welsh poppies Meconopsis cambrica.  Mostly yellow but you get some orange ones too.  Perennial self-seeder.  I can send you some seed when mine have gone over.  Maybe not tall enough though, more like 30cm.

Thanks @josusa47 that is not a bad shout,
The area is just a mass of developing foliage and deadheaded bulbs at moment and I was expecting to have to shoehorn in some more late Tulips so something sown from seed and even better a self seeding something would be great. Need a bit of height to hold their heads up above all this, but sown at front of border and on the lower level would work well.
I'll pm you with my address with much gratitude for your generous offer.
    Many thanks

  • Mecanopsis self-seed all over the place in our garden but they're so cute we mostly just leave them
