New turf - dead patch in corner

Hello,
My partner and I recently moved into a new property, the landlord mentioned how the previous tenant didn’t care for the small lawn it has so they paid for it to be re-turfed and stressed how important it would be to look after it.
Fast forward a month and despite watering, a corner of it has started to die and pulls up easily like a carpet. Oh dear! Neither of us are particularly knowledgeable gardeners so any advice on how to salvage this would be appreciated - thank you!
The rest of lawn is looking quite nice and thick, we haven’t mowed it yet to give it a chance to settle.
