Transplanting Sunflowers and Zinnias

NwjblakeNwjblake Posts: 15
Hello there,

I planted some 'Claret' sunflowers and lime zinnias in modules a couple of weeks ago and they are coming on nicely and growing fast - see the picture I've attached.

I planned on transplanting these into 9cm pots with multi purpose compost + perlite, but I've just read that both dislike root disturbance and won't do well if potted on.

Any suggestions on whether best to leave them in the rather small modules or carefully transplant to pots?

Also, I read that planting them fairly deep and covering some of the stem beneath the seed leaves would increase strength of the stem. Any thoughts on this?

Many thanks!

It's true they don't like root disturbance but it will be minimal as you have one seedling per module. Push the plant out by the bottom and pot on individually.  Good luck

I have a few in small modules. Thinking of planting them out pretty soon.
