Hydrangeas any ideas as to the brown crisp leaves

My first thought is that it's underwatered. Is the soil very dry?

They may be burnt from the heat of the sun, or possibly watering overhead whilst the sun is up. Generally, Hydrangeas prefer to be in a more shadier position.
