Weed or not

Hi all we have suddenly got 3 of these things growing, has anybody got any idea what they are ? Friend or foe 😀☹️

    Looks a bit like a courgette, but don't take that as the correct answer!

    The wife thinks it's butternut squash from the seeds I put in the compost, they do sprout but can't believe it's managed to grow to that

    She could be right, they grow fast once they get going, but they aren't always true to the original plant as far as the squash are concerned.

    Thanks all decided that it had to go, still not entirely sure what it was, it had a massive tap root similar to sort of beet. Anyway it's now compost fodder
