Cherry blossom - buds falling off, only partially blossoming

Hi there,

I have a young cherry blossom tree (prunus pink perfection) which I bought about 18 months ago. It blossomed last year and this year, but both times it only partially blossomed. Lots of the un-blossomed buds fall off just by touching them. There also seem to be lots of buds growing on the trunk and branches - which strikes me as a bit odd, but I don't know. Otherwise it seems healthy – no obvious signs (to me) of any disease etc.

I'm attaching photos of it in "full bloom".

Does anyone know why this is happening and how I might be able to help it along ready for next year? Thanks!

Its a young tree. Give it time. A bucket of water a week with some liquid feed in might help.

I agree ... buds forming but not opening is usually a result of drought at the roots.
