Planting hydrangeas

Morning,  We're new gardeners and would appreciate any advice. Have a new house with a 17m fence (3.8 wide)which is parallel to a busy B road. We are planning on putting some hydrangeas along the fence but need to keep as low maintenance as possible.  ( in normal times we are  motor homers) Are we ok to put the hydrangeas along the fence or do we need to put up some sort of hedging between the hydrangeas and fence/road. Thank you  Sue

Hi @Susiec0105 - I'm a bit unsure of your measurements. What do you mean by  a 17m fence, 3.8 wide?
Are the hydrangeas going on the house side of the fence? If so, they will eventually form a hedge, assuming they're growing in a suitable aspect and soil, and have the correct care to get them established.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
