Shrub not recognised?

After a name for this shrub please, quite dramatic in dark leaf colour with flower buds just appearing and this one is about 3' high. I've done some research and wondered if it's a variety of Sambucus Nigra but the ones I've seen tend to have a more delicate leaf form? Also any tips on growing conditions, pruning etc gratefully received!

Sambucus nigra 'Black Lace' has divided leaves, but there are other dark-leaved forms with leaves like yours, I think.  There's one called 'Thundercloud' which looks similar to your photos.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Yes, but not Black Lace as that has dissected leaves.  Maybe this one

  • Thanks both at least it looks like I'm on the right lines. Tend to think the leaves look a bit more like Thundercloud but maybe able to identify it better when the flowers open. Don't think it's been planted in the garden for more than 2 years so if it is from this family may have to keep an eye on it's growth as it could be a bit of a bully!
