Sweet pea seedlings

I have grown some sweet peas and now they are ready to plant out.  We do get quite a bit of wind here, so I have made two bamboo cane wigwams.  Do I tied the delicate sweet pea seedlings to the bamboos or do I use netting.  If using netting how do I attach it to the canes? I hope someone can help.  Thank you.You can just see the two seedlings that I have planted against the canes on this picture.

I've never used netting @Guernsey Donkey2. I do string round the canes, going up and round like a rollercoaster [  ;) ] or I just tie each one gently to the canes as it grows.
I might tie in any wayward stems, or tuck them round a string, depending on how neat I want it.
Usually, after a while - they just do their own thing!

I too use string around the canes, it gives a greater area for the plants to grow up.😁

Netting's more suited to growing in an open space - between two posts for instance, or against a fence or similar   :)

  • Thank you for your helpful comments.  With all three of these replies saying netting isn't so helpful, I will just try using string and hoping for the best, picture of mature plants to follow in a few weeks time.
