Palram automatic vent opening

Hi all

We've got a Palram Harmony greenhouse which we bought last year.

Included with this was a rather fiddly manual vent opening. Over the winter the window had blown off several times as the vent was only really attached to the frame by the silly little 'screws' which actually only stick to the frame by about 5mm of plastic.

Because it had blown off I also lost some of the screws as well. We had tried to glue the (manual) vent opener but it still didn't work, so we had to use garden wire through the frame to hold the window shut.

I was hoping therefore to buy something a bit sturdier like an Automatic Vent opening as these seem to be attached properly with screws. Does anyone know if I have to buy the official Palram Automatic Vent Opener, or will some of the cheaper universal products fit?

Any standard auto vent should fit your greenhouse.

The fittings can be a bit fiddly mind. I have 4 in my greenhouse and there great.

You can either drill the aluminium for screwing into or use the clamps which clamp to the top and bottom of the window frame.

Just go to Amazon and there's loads of them there any make should do.

I have a similar problem with my Palram greenhouse - the vent window blows off in any strong wind because the the top edge is just balanced on a ridge along the top of the green house.  The manual plastic vent fastener is simply not up to the job, and I am worried that even a sturdier fastening arm will still not solve the problem of the top edge not being secured.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

    Hi John

I ended up in the end just buying the official Palram automatic vent opener last summer which in the end did the job and has a much more secure arm. Over winter I threaded some garden twine through the gaps in the frame to secure it shut, which I removed a few weeks ago when the weather warmed up.
