Help me with my lawn

Hi my garden has been neglected for some time now due to family life but now it's time to do something about it.
My lawn has always looked very sorry for itself with big brown dry patches and lots of moss.
Any idea on how I can get it looking nice and green again?

You need to give the lawn area a good rake over to remove thatch and moss build-up. Compacted soils are common, so you will need to wait until there has been a lot of rain so the top layer of soil is easier to spike. Using a garden fork, make holes at even intervals. Using a stiff broom or turning a rake up-side-down, to work in top soil mixed with lawn sand. All these jobs can be anything from 2 days to a month as weather normally dictates how you deal with heavily compacted soils such as a clay-base soil.
