Weeds through gravel

Would using old compost bags work as a cost friendly solution to preventing weeds from growing through a small area of gravel?

Absolutely you just need to overlap them about 6 inch as the weeds will make their way through any little gap

Make a few holes in the compost bag for drainage or you could end up with a waterlogged area of gravel rather than a weed infested one.
