The leaves are tiny.  The stems are woody and brittle
I thought  it was a dead annual at first.
About to compost it a couple of  weeks  ago,I  noticed a bit of green
Might it be potentilla?

    I say 100% potentilla.
Cut it all back to about 8" tall and it'll bush up a treat.

It's smaller than that at the moment!. I'll give it a light trim. Thanks both

I'd cut it back to the height of the "stump" in the middle of the photo and give it a feed.

And if its not sunny at its current location, move it to the sunniest area plus regular watering, and you will witness its tremendous daily growth, and have a bushy flowering plant during the Summer.

It's in a pot at the moment. Will find somewhere sunny for it when the time comes to plant it out. Thanks for advice @LToby
