Plum tree

Hello, 
I think i have a European plum tree but the new leaves are turning yellowish and turning in on themselves. On the underside of the leaf along the stem looks like white silk. What is it and can i help my tree

    Apple moth caterpillars I presume.

    I have no idea, not even sure what tree it is. App say plum tree, can you get these applle moth caterpillars on a plum tree? If so what gets rid of them?
