The perils of relying on common names!

Ordering some anemone bulbs in a sale a while back, thought I would look at their bearded iris, thinking the germanica type, exposed corms, likes it hot and dry. A few lovely dark, nearly black ones slipped into my basket, you know how it goes...

They finally turned up. Turns out they are Iris Chrysographes. Likes boggy, edge of pond type situation. Aaagh! The complete opposite of what I thought and absolutely not conditions I can provide here! Ho hum, lesson learnt. Have planted them anyway and will try and keep them moist.

    Ooh - I love those @Nollie
Try making a wee boggy area using some plastic or summat. Mine are just coming through a bit just now - it's usually May/June they flower here.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

They aren't around for long, but yes - could almost lick 'em @B3 ... :D
One of my favourite sights in the garden. The raindrops on them just adds to the effect.

They are gorgeous, I only hope I can keep them alive! I have planted them in a corner of my new rose bed, which has been mega enriched and within line of sight of the outdoor seating area, so hopefully I will remember to give them a regular soaking @Fairygirl
