Acacia verticillata help please

We've had this plant for a couple of years now, but it keeps turning brown just as the yellow flowers appear in the spring it done this last year and recovered again in the summer, we potted it on incase it was pot bound, we fleece it over the winter, and it's done it again. Anyone ha e any ideas

It's highly likely due to late frost. But the good thing is, it sounds like it has bounced back previously. It's a tender tree and likely difficult to manage if you have it planted somewhere with a lot of cold wind and wet.

You mentioned pot, also quite challenging for trees to grow in. Could be inconsistent watering and as you say it could have been pot-bound previously and may take a while to adjust. Make sure it's planted in loam-based compost. The ground may be cold too, so raise the pot off the ground in winter and wrap it up with bubble-wrap to keep the soil and roots warm.

Thanks for the advice,our thoughts were on the right track we weren't sure whether to plant in the ground or not, we think we may have found a fairly sheltered spot

Provided it is sheltered, the soil free draining and not on the alkaline side, they may do well. The early years will require you to drape fleece protection on frosty nights. Once they mature more, they tend to fend off the frost better.
