Camelia ....moving position

Hello
Can I move a Camelia shrub now? It hasn't flowered yet. Thank you.

  • You need to give a bit more information...is it in the ground or a pot? Why do you want to move it? Like any other plant it's better to upset the root system while it's dormant...but sometimes we don't have the choice.

  • Hello
Thank you for the questions. The camelia is in the ground in a large bed. I want to move it further back because it is too near the front of the bed. I can dig well round it and it can go into an equally big hole to replant.
  • Maybe post a picture so we have an idea how big it is? If it's really established I'd let it be and tackle it in late autumn. It would be a huge stress if it's currently in bud to be uprooted.

  • Hello again
I'll take your advice and move it in late Autumn. Buds are just appearing so it will be safer to wait until later in the year.
Thanks for the advice. Happy Easter.
