Dying shrubs, need help to identify.

Hi,
We have several shrubs of the same type at our new garden.
Some are dying, some are doing really well.
We don’t know what they are. Can anyone ID this shrub.

As you can see below, we have two together, one looks to be on the way out. The other is doing well.

This other one is about 15 feet away...
We’re worried they have a disease and want to research them but don’t know what they are.
thanks

    Have you seen it flower?
  • Not yet. But I think it’s about to. That should tell me more.

I think I’ll have the dying ones out In case of disease to be safe. But it may be they’ve been out competed or maybe the wet winter did for them.

Yes the flowers will help.  Post a picture of a flower when it appears .
    Difficult to tell.
I scratch the woody stems in various places for signs of green. May be worth a try? To see if alive still.
  • Just had them both put. They were barely rooted. I think the roots had rotted.

I’ll wait for the flowers and see what we have.
