What’s happened to my strawberry plants?

Loz46Loz46 Posts: 103
Hello everyone,

Last year I moved some runners from some old strawberry plants and planted them in a bed with some new plants that I bought from B&Q.

The B&Q plants look absolutely fine and normal, but the runners from the old plants look a bit odd, the leaves don’t look right? I even wondered if it was a weed caught up with the strawberries, but it’s not.

Any ideas what’s going on?

Many thanks
Lauren

  • Looks like you have some creeping buttercup growing in with the strawberries. I'd try and get it all out pronto as they're a menace!

    I'd agree.
What are the other plants you have?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

You definitely have something growing between the strawberry plant. I’ve circled some strawberry leaves so you know what to leave.

Buttercup has runners just like strawberries

Yes - but @Skylarks has shown the foliage so that it's clear which is strawb and which is buttercup.
Hopefully that will help @Loz46 :)

    Excellent, job done! :)
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Oh wow, that is impressively fast work! keep an eye out on them this year, as those buttercups will try to come back from the seeds already in the soil.
