Cuckoo!!

How wonderful, we haven't heard a cuckoo call for so many years and we just heard one! It's so oddly quiet outside the birdsong is carrying so much further.

Can't remember the last time I heard a cuckoo, must be 30 years at least.  I have to make do with ignoring the collared dove's third note.

Lovely! They are not here yet, always seem to be tardy compared to many visitors around here.

Ours have been here about 3 weeks now and there were 2 or 3 calling yesterday while I was out in the garden along with a couple of hoopoes.

Still no sign of the swallows yet tho and I cleared their ruin of all possible cat perches and human stuff as soon as @Nollie mentioned his were there.  I've even made OH leave a huge central portion of "grass" unmowed so there's masses of wildflowers and thus, in theory, insects.

How wonderful Obelixx, I hope the swallows perform well and appreciate your restaurant. It made our day to hear the Cuckoo call, we took it for granted as children and would chant the rhyme endlessly.
