Large Planters To Fill

Hi there,

What would be the best type of soil/compost to use in large planters, I have roughly 25 sqm to fill.

I would be planting trees, plants bushes etc.

Thanks

I usually use John Innes No.3, recommended for bushes/trees etc in permanent  containers, mixed with one-third good multi-purpose compost and some horticultural grit. What kind of trees were you hoping to grow?

What size each are the planters? You said 25sqm?

Definitely a soil based compost - anything long term in a container needs that. You can even just use some garden soil if you have it, and add compost or manure.
They still require good drainage though, so make sure they're raised up on feet, especially if they're on a paved surfaced like a patio.
As said - it will also depend on what you're planting.

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
