Redoing an entire flowerbed

  • Managed to rope my partner into helping me turn over the bottom of the bed. It already looks a whole lot better, although, at one end there is quite a lot of clay. Any suggestions as to how to treat this or shall I just carry on with the compost/manure?

    Thanks in advance

Manure is excellent for opening up clay soil, so that's perfect.
Clay is also an extremely good medium for growing in,as it contains lots of nutrients.  :)
    Looking good  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • Haha thanks, will do 😊
  • So I have now loaded up the bed with compost and manure... Is it worth putting top soil on there aswell? I didn't really see the point but thought I'd ask. As you can see it could be doing with a bit more to top it up but thought a bit of wiggle room may be needed, especially when it comes to planting potted flowers. I've also discovered that rabbit poo is a great fertiliser, I own 2 and they are pooing machines so I now have a pretty unlimited supply of fertiliser. All in all, a good day. Hope yous are doing well! ❤️

You'll probably find as you come to plant that the level will find it's own...er, level 😁
Once it's planted up see how it looks, but personally l wouldn't add any topsoil at the moment if you're happy with the state of it now.
