Any smallish bird that is well mannered, not too noisy and eats all day long so, probably Robin followed by blackbird, sparrows (although the baby ones can be a bit raucous) and any of the tits. Happily I have them all

I don't go messing in either of my sheds over winter until I have to (basically a fair weather, lazy gardener) and there is usually a pair nesting somewhere by February. I also do quite a big of digging and sorting out growbags and pots at this time of year so he (or she who knows?) tracks me like radar snatching anything that moves as they now have hungry mouths to feed.
Within about 10 minutes of me getting my fork out he is sitting on the washing line post watching closely.
One bird that fascinates me but I will never have in my garden is the hummingbird. Caught this one on camera in California as well

At only four grams it is my favorite. I love to waTch them everyday. Ours are migratory and ours ar just arriving. I am planting specifically for it. I have many other favorites. Including robins and redewing blackbirds. Salvia is native here and they use it right away
