Bougainvillaea- is it dead?

I had beautiful bougainvillea last year and pruned back when flowering finished & put in greenhouse over winter. Now it just looks like a brown twig!! What do I do? Have I killed it?? V inexperienced gardener newbie - help!

    If it snaps in half it is dead. Was your greenhouse frost free? They can drop all the leaves, but usually there will be some signs of green stem on it.

    It was frost free & quite mild - hasn’t snapped, but I can’t see any green! I’ll take a pic in daylight tomorrow - thank you
