Mystery plant

Hello folks. Would appreciate help in identifying the attached, please. Short almost-Burgundy-coloured leaves, sat in a fairly sunny border.

As you can tell, I'm new to this!

My guess is Lysimachia ciliata "Firecracker" perhaps

Thanks AnniD, that's really helpful. The length of last year's dead ones do seem to resemble the fully-grown ones I've seen on pictures.
