Plum tree trunk abnormalities

I wondered if anyone might be able to help identify these abnormalities on my plum tree?

The tree was affected by brown rot last year and we pruned it relatively hard last spring. We thought we had removed all the branches affected but I suspect from the patchy blossom this year that most of the rest of the small branches are now infected. I was going to cut it back to 2 main stems (which appear healthy) but have now noticed these new raised patches on the main trunk. Does anyone know if they likely to be from brown rot? If so, I will have to cut down the entire tree but if not, I will probably still try to salvage it.

Thanks in advance for your help
