Leaves have gone black
any idea why the leaves on my Sage and verbena going black

Sage isn't always hardy, so it may be down to your conditions, especially if you have wetter soil. They don't like that. I can't have it here unless I overwinter it undercover.
If you leave it a little while, and there's green growth lower down, you can trim it back to that. It certainly looks like it is a bit greener lower down in the pic, so you should be able to remove the damaged/dead foliage.
The verbena should be fine - again, it's just weather. You can trim them back to a decent bit, if there is one, or leave it a little while longer and then do it. In very cold, wet conditions, they don't always survive. If you can take cuttings each year, it gives you extra stock for backup
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
