Salvia pruning

Hi all. Is it ok to prune a salvia bush now? Mine is looking really straggly 
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.

    I'm leaving mine a for few more weeks. It's still chilly here and the garden isn't sheltered. You'll probably be OK if you have a milder climate or a sheltered garden.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    How do you actually do it, can I take them right down or just a jentle trim?

    Have a look at this video from Wiiliam Dyson of Great Comp nurseries.  Not the best sound quality,  but the bird song  is lovely !

    Thanks annid nice video, mine are still green with the first flush of new leaves so I guess I have a job for tomorrow.

    We are still getting frosts in London, I will wait a bit. Just strimming should be fine.

    Just pruned my young salvia curviflora thats been living in garage over winter. It’s got fresh growth the full length of the stems but I’ve only taken off about a third as I’m terrified of killing it! It comes out during the day for some sun but it’ll stay in the garage overnight until the frosts are no more :-)
