I planted these and even wrote up the labels but then got distracted and never put them in the pot. Now I have no idea. One is a dahlia (Teesbroke Audrey) and one is a dicentra (cupid). Would someone be able to help me tell which is which please?

  • The second one looks like the dicentra but the first one doesn’t look like a dahlia to me.

They both look like dicentra to me. If there's a dahlia in one of the pots, it isn't shooting yet. Mine are in the ground outside and I don't expect them to show their noses above the soil for another month at least.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Both look like Dicentra spectabilis (now renamed to Lamprocapnos spectabilis) to me, too, maybe one is the white one and one is the red & white one?
edit: changed my mind, 2nd could well be a dahlia or possibly peony - can we have a photo taken from the side please?

Oh no, thank you all. I do also have three dicentra alba that I've planted as well as the cupid but I thought I'd planted them elsewhere... :/

Why oh why do I never learn.

Bob - thank you, side photo coming up. I don't think I've put any peonies in pots. I'm pretty sure they're all in the ground.

I suppose they could all be dicentra (lamprothingy)? Oh no, in which case where is my dahlia?? And which ones are the alba and which are cupid?
