Honeysuckle

Hi,
could you tell me when would be the best time to a cutting from a honeysuckle.
My dad me a small plant, he grew from a cutting he took, from one that was growing on the house,
I can not ask him as he passed away,
I want to be able to keep the plant going,
many thanks

Hi @Serenbach68 - it's nice to have these plants when it's for sentimental reasons  :)
Is it the small plant you mention that you want to take a cutting from?
It may depend how mature that plant is as to how viable it would be. Do you have a photo or any other info?
It's usually later in the year [late summer] for taking semi ripe cuttings - ie, wood which is firming up a little, rather than the soft growth of earlier in the summer.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I pinned down a piece of mine, a piece near a joint into the soil nearby and it rooted by autumn.

That’s how I do it. In fact I often find that some of the honeysuckle shoots near the ground have done it by themselves.

Yeh - that's often the easiest way [pegging down] - likewise with clematis.

If you've ever grown strawberries @Serenbach68 - it's the same principle as pinning down their runners  :)
