If your plant was bare root when you bought it, they're dipped in wax to protect them.
No, wasn’t a bare root. Wasn’t on the plant when I brought it last year. It’s just appeared in the last month or so. No worries, just didn’t want it to be a fungus. Thanks 😊
...as I said it's just normal winter dieback on roses, the silver sheathing is very common on dead canes after winter.. it's not wax.. ...if it's on good green canes too, it sometimes is, there's no need to do anything to those unless they prove unproductive, then they should be cut out at the base...
