Planting augers

Has anyone used an auger for planting in the garden ? We used 1 for planting tulips and it worked really well and it was easy for my wife to use. With some 800-1000 perennials due to be planted this spring/summer and a shoulder operation due to put me out of action I wondered if this might be a solution for my wife as digging isn't an option for my wife. Any help advice greatly appreciated

    I have a set of three which range from crocus bulb to tulip bulb sizes. They work well in a rechargeable drill/screwdriver.  You need to be careful about the level of torque but on most drills you can set this to avoid damage to both drill and wrist.
  • I’ve a feeling that the size of the bore needed to plant perennials would be too much for most folk to be able to turn. 
    1000 perennials to plant?!
    I think I’d be borrowing a strong teenager in need of some holiday funds.

    Thanks all seems I jumped the gun as a date has come through for middle of summer, so much for 6weeks but that's a different grumble.
