Hedge help

edited February 2020 in Problem solving
Due to a combination of underground retic not working (and didn’t realise), a week of 40degrees and cutting at the wrong time of year, my hedges are looking worse for wear. Any tips on how to fix? Do I take all dead ones out and plant new smaller ones to catch up or do I need to rip it all out and start again ?
I have a smaller hedge in another area- do these plants handle being replanted? Appreciate any help

Hi @ashleigh.burstein. I take it you're not in the UK?
Is it privet? Hard to tell from the pix. It can be prone to honey fungus.
I don't know what 'underground retic' is, but if it's a watering system, and you've had 40 degree temps, it's likely the ground very dry, which could be the problem, in which case, replacing would be the solution. If it's fungus or other pests, that needs a different solution.
    Need more info though  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
