Please can anyone shed any light as to the identity of the ground vine in the photos attached??

That looks like one of the very pretty varieties of Lamium maculatum https://wimastergardener.org/article/spotted-deadnettle-lamium-maculatum/

Great groundcover for shady spots ... and the bumble and solitary bees just love the flowers.  

To the right of the picture are some darker leaves which may be one of the Ajuga reptans ... https://www.jparkers.co.uk/ajuga-burgundy-glow-1018366c?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkf3dnYPH5wIVGojVCh1yfAWBEAAYBCAAEgIr2fD_BwE  another great groundcover plant and also good for the bees.

No they’re both fine ... easily controllable ... easy to propagate by layering or taking cuttings too. I’ve got them both in my garden. They’re lovely 😊

Those brown leaves look like dead Beech leaves to me?
theres a lovely thick bramble trailing across though.
