Schefflera plant rapidly dropping arms

Hello,

I have had my plant for 18 months. I live in the Netherlands and we have had a cold winter. When I got him he was as tall as the middle stick so he has grown a lot.

A couple of weeks ago he started dropping arms. When it started dropping I noticed the top of the soil was moist so haven't watered since. It is still a little moist.

Two days ago I moved him from a corner to in front of a window (lighter but not direct light).

There's one hole in the bottom of the pot.

Any idea what else I can do? I love this plant :(

They are tropical plants. I would imagine that, in front of a window, there is a big difference between night and day time temperatures. I don’t think they like that.

The leaves look a bit yellow. That might be lack of sunshine during the winter months. However, looking at that hole in the pot, I think that the roots might be rotting because of poor drainage. Can you transfer it to a proper flowerpot?
Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
