96 ... I had thought he would go on for ever ... now who’s going to be in charge of Just a Minute?

Thanks for the fun Nicholas 🥰

Sad to hear this, l will miss him on Just a Minute.
Edited to add, there is a special episode of Just a Minute at 6.30 this evening on Radio 4 (a highlighs one first broadcast to mark 50 year of JaM), and also a conversation with Paul Merton at 11pm, again from the same year.

From the Guardian’s obituary, regarding Just a Minute:

His longevity became the subject of much banter in recent years; an exchange on the topic “Oliver Cromwell” gives a flavour.

Parsons: “Well, it was 1653, not 1563 …”

    Norton: “Nicholas remembers.”

Merton: “To be honest, he was doing the warm-up to Charles I’s execution.”

Norton: “He’s still got the bladder on a stick!”

Merton: “Unfortunately, for different reasons these days.”

I always enjoyed him on Sale of the Century described as "The Quiz Of The Week" on Anglia television. I didn't realise as mentioned on the BBC that he trained as an engineer in Scotland so I looked it up in Wikipedia, have a look at that site because if true the hurdles he overcame in his early life it's a tribute to him that he achieved so much.

I wonder if @Obelixx remember the grafitti on a wall of a flyover in Harrow which read "Nicholas Parsons is the neo-opiate of the people" written in 2 foot high letters.

Please will the BBC consider offering Just a Minute to Griff Rhys Jones?  I thought he would be a better choice than Jack Dee for I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue.
